Abstract

There are currently two development strategies in the product development process. In the traditional process, concepts emerge from combining alternatives across various parameters. The Design Thinking method, on the other hand, focuses on customer needs and the development team. Both approaches are briefly explained below.

Traditional product development

The traditional product development process starts with a systematic analyze of a problem, to find all possible solutions. In the table called morphological box, Table 1, the problem is broken down into its essential parameter or features. Brainstorming is required to find as many alternatives as possible for each feature. The results are collected in the morphological box. This provides a systematic overview of all possible variants and combinations that could lead to a solution.
