Abstract
With the advancing time more and more vehicles usage are increasing. The demand for vehicle manufacturing companies for the production are increasing. However, these vehicles use fossil fuels (petrol or diesel) for operation. As it is known that these fossil fuels are limited in quantities. Hence alternative options have come to use electric vehicles which uses electric power to store energy in batteries. The electric power can come from either renewable or non renewable sources. But these electric vehicles have its own merits and demerits.
The merits are: environment friendly (no usage of fuel for combustion and thereby does not emit harmful gas pollutants); low noise with smooth operation (no fast moving elements with less sound pollution); less maintenance (due to less moving components wear and tear is less with simple and low maintenance cost); support from government to use electric vehicles; deliver quick acceleration for smooth ride.
The demerits are: higher buying cost due to complex electronic ciruitry; limited distance coverage on single charge; lack of electric vehicle charging stations in outskirts; degradation of battery with time affecting mileage and costly repairment; greater charging time of battery.
Although some demerits are there it can be overcomed by applying modern technologies with time.
